“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
Hebrews 13:16 ESV

When we think about worship, we often picture singing, praying, or lifting our hands. But Scripture reminds us that worship is also found in how we love and serve others.

Hebrews 13:16 calls these simple acts — doing good and sharing what we have — sacrifices pleasing to God. That means the way you serve someone in need, the way you encourage a friend, the way you give generously — all of it is worship.

Sometimes we think worship only “counts” when it happens inside a church building. But God delights in worship that spills out into everyday life. A kind word to a coworker. A meal shared with someone who’s struggling. Time spent listening to someone who feels unseen. Those moments matter deeply to Him.

And here’s the beauty: when we serve others, we reflect the heart of Jesus — the One who came not to be served, but to serve. Our worship becomes more than words; it becomes love in action.

So maybe worship today isn’t about singing the loudest. Maybe it’s about noticing someone who feels forgotten. Maybe it’s about giving when it costs you something. Maybe it’s about showing up for someone in quiet, practical ways.

That’s worship too. And according to God’s Word, it’s the kind of worship that pleases His heart.
