“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18 ESV

Sometimes, worship feels easy. The room is full, the music is powerful, and you feel God's presence so clearly. But other times — maybe more often than we admit — worship feels hard. Life weighs heavy, your heart feels distant, and singing the words feels like a struggle.

And yet, this is the moment where worship matters most.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that God is close — especially when we’re hurting. He doesn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up or get back to a “better place.” He draws near to the brokenhearted. He sees us in our disappointment, our pain, our confusion — and He doesn’t pull away. He steps in.

Worship in these moments may not look or sound like much. It might be a whisper of “God, I need You.” It might be tears during a song you can’t bring yourself to sing. It might be sitting quietly in His presence because words just won’t come. That counts. That is worship.

You don’t have to pretend to be okay in God’s presence. He knows. And He’s not asking you to “feel better” before you come to Him — He’s asking you to come as you are. Crushed spirit and all.

So if you feel broken today, you’re not too far from God. You’re actually right where He meets you. He comes close. He lifts. He heals. He stays.

Let that truth settle in: God is near. Not just when we’re strong and confident — but when we’re falling apart. That’s who He is.

So today, let your worship be real. Even if it’s quiet. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s full of questions. He welcomes it. He welcomes you.
