Our children’s ministry exists to partner with parents to lead children to become disciples who change the world. Kids, birth through 5th grade will experience safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in a creative and relevant way. Our goal is for your child to have fun and learn about Jesus on their level while building relationships that nurture and encourage growth in Christ.
The Gospel Project . Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
The Gospel Project for Kids is a Christ-centered Bible study resource that follows a chronological timeline of Bible events–presenting the story of redemption through Jesus like kids have never seen it before! Each week, these stories come to life through video, music, activities and more.
Preschool (babies through Pre-K) - This environment is created for our littlest ones. Our preschool area offers dedicated and loving volunteers who will show our children Jesus’ love by praying over them and teaching them dynamic lessons through songs, stories, and hands-on activities.
Elementary (K-5th) - This environment is created for kids K-5th grade. Your child will begin learning what it means to follow Jesus. Your child will arrive and engage in a 9:30 a.m. Life Group by grade where caring volunteers will lead relational discussions along with playing exciting activities that reinforce the Bible story for that day. Next your child will experience worship with their family at 11:00 a.m. in our corporate worship service.
Extended Session. Sundays at 11:00 A.M.
At 11:00 a.m., babies through Pre-K children are cared for in our preschool area by loving, trained leaders. They learn about Jesus through story time and fun activities.
Family Worship . Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
At 11:00 a.m., Kindergarten-5th graders experience worship with their families in our sanctuary.
AWANA . Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
AWANA is a tool we use to sink Scripture into the hearts and minds of our kids, 3 years old through 5th grade, here at the SOBC. We think one of the most important gifts we can give to the next generation is a deep and lasting knowledge of God’s Word, and AWANA is designed to work with parents in cultivating that in the lives of our kids through an exciting, weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.
Safety is very important to us. You can relax as you attend an adult small group and our adult service knowing that your child is being loved on by caring volunteers. All of our volunteers are background checked and every area is monitored. Upon check-in, you and your child will be given matching identification stickers. Your child will wear the name tag portion that has a code that matches yours. This is our way of keeping your child safe. During checkout, you will return to your child’s room and show your sticker for your child to be released to you.
At Shady Oaks, we believe that children are a gift from the Lord! You will have an opportunity to dedicate your family during our 11:00 AM service. If you would like your family to be dedicated, please email Christy Fritts.
God calls the family to play a vital role in discipling the next generation. How this is accomplished varies from family to family and is as unique as the DNA of each home. Family discipleship isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it isn’t easy—even the most intentional of Christian parents may find themselves at a loss as to how to begin. We want to come alongside parents to help them craft their own approach to family discipleship. Though each family is unique, we believe that vibrant family discipleship can take shape through family worship and a framework of time, moments and milestones.
