What are Deacons?
The Deacon body at Shady Oaks Baptist church is a servant focused ministry providing strong Christian leadership and support to the church staff and membership. Deacons are nominated by the church body and serve a three year term.
What do Deacons do?
- The deacons make personal visits to guests following the Sunday morning services to welcome, deliver a "goodie bag" and answer any questions.
- The deacons partner with new members to ensure that they have information about church ministries, facilities and how to get involved.
- The deacons prepare, coordinate and serve Communion during worship services
- The deacons assist the pastor and staff with hospital visits and calls to members needing prayer and support.
